The best places to buy candles that won’t leave you totally skint.

We all love a good candle, I don’t know if it’s the flickering light, the scrumptious smells or the cute homey feel they give the place but the minute I go into shop I’m off like a greyhound to the candle section. I’ve found a few places where they sell very nice, reasonably priced scented candles so I thought I’d share them with you!
Primark – I love this place in general. This is the money savers holy grail for pretty much anything, decent quality at low cost is something that’s hard to come by but usually Primark does it. Some items can be a little bit hit and miss but as a whole, they’re a very good place if you haven’t got much cash to work with. Their candles included. They have a decent range of candles, some a scented and some aren’t (I’m a sucker for scented, I don’t think I’ve ever bought a candle that wasn’t scented) and they’re such good prices. You can get a 3 wick scented candle in very pretty tins for £5. Their whole range is beautiful, I would recommend checking it out if you’re in the market for some!

Supermarkets – any supermarket that has a homeware section. Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose I’ve seen candles in every single one of these shops, these are usually quite plain but very good prices, occasionally they’ll have something a little bit more arty farty. (I’m looking at you ASDA with you initial candles!) if you’re looking for something plain and cheap these might be the guys for you! Plus Tesco do a range with Yankee candle which of course smell divine.

The range, TOFS, next etc. – these types of shops that are a mix of everything are great for candles. Where I’m from we have a TOFS (The Original Factory Shop) and Store 21 which both sell some awesome candles at ridiculously good prices. I have to talk myself out of buying a candle every time I walk in there. Some of these can be a little bit pricier but I find they’re larger/more intricate scents!

Matalan – I’ve saved my personal fave till last, this is one place where I will always walk out with a candle. Not only that but I’ll stand there for a good half an hour smelling every single one. They have a range out at the moment which I currently have 2 from that come in large glass tubs, one is black orchid and amber scented and it cost me £5 this candle is pretty darn big so for its size it’s a great price. So imagine my joy that the next time I go in there they have a certain scent half price. I got a pomegranate and peony scented candle for £2.50. That same trip I also got a large pineapple and coconut scented candle which was also £5. This is probably my favourite, the smell is sweet but fresh at the same time and it’s covered in tropical leaves. Perfect summer scent!

I plan to do another post candles at Christmas time because as you can imagine, this is my favourite time to go shopping for candles!

What are your favourite candle scents?

W7 and Make Up Revolution – Eyeshadow Palette Review.

We all love a good bargain don’t we? Especially when it comes to make up but how many times have we picked something up thinking ‘yes! I can’t believe how cheap this was?’ got it home and realised there’s a reason why it was so cheap. The reason, was because it was utter crap. Well, thankfully, it seems that as I’ve gotten older, this has happened less and less and honestly, I think that make up brands have seized an opportunity for affordable make up ranges for teens who maybe don’t have their own income, people who aren’t privileged enough to be able to splurge on make up or even just those who begrudge spending a lot of money on make up and love a good bargain!

I have two palettes from two of these brands and both of them have convinced me I don’t need to splash extra cash on eyeshadow palettes to get some amazing products. (I may not need to, but sometimes I really really want to!)

The first of the two I purchased was the W7 In The Buff Palette, you can get this from a bunch of different beauty websites and a few high street stores. I got mine from The Original Factory Shop and I think I paid £5 for it. (It was a while ago…) I remember there being a lot of hype around this product as it appeared to be a dupe of the Urban Decay Naked palette, I’m not sure which one, I’ve read articles where it says Naked and ones where it says Naked 2. Whichever one it was, I’ve never owned any of the Naked palettes (insert ugly crying face here) so I haven’t been able to compare them. What i can tell you about this palette however is that it is B E A U tiful. The texture of the shadows are great, they blend well and not a lot of fall out. There is some but it’s easily wiped away without smudging all across your cheeks. As you can tell from the name, the colours are mostly nudes with some metallic thrown in for good measure. As a teenager I wore mostly black eyeshadow and my little emo heart couldn’t cope at the thought of wearing what I saw as beige eyeshadow, so I was a little resistant to try it but when I did I fell in love with it. I tend to wear nude colours for day time make up so this is perfect for my everyday looks. I don’t use this as much as the other palette I’m going to talk about purely because I don’t often wear make up in the day but I do love it. You can get this palette in a lot of different places online, I’ve seen the price range from £3.95 to £5.95. I would definitely recommend this for lovers of nude shades that don’t want to pay the high end price tags. W7 also do a huge range of palettes in different colour combo’s which i will definitely be investing in.

The second palette is my all time favourite. Make Up Revolution – I Heart Make Up Palette. I wear this without fail every time I go out or want a more dramatic make up look. They again are super wearable, the staying power is GREAT with very little fall out. I think throughout all of the colours in it there is only 2 which I haven’t touched. This palette is what made me feel more adventurous about eyeshadow and want to step away from the emo panda eyes look I’d been rocking since age 14.
You can also get this one online, it’s old so it’s no longer available in Superdrug anymore but if you search it online, it’s still available on other sites. As I’ve had this for a long time I wasn’t able to photograph the inside for you but I have included an image from a site where it is still available to buy (Link to this is included). The cost of the palette is around £6.99.
The red/burgundy eyeshadow with a hint of gold glitter is my absolute favourite, if i want a really dramatic look I will team that with a winged liner, false lashes and a nude lip.

Honestly, I think both of these palettes are worth it especially for the cost and if you’re like me and trying to make those pennies stretch to payday I’d definitely check out the brands for their other products.

Let me know if you have any other affordable Make up, Beauty, Clothing or Homeware brands you’d like me to look at!
